  • The Rural Virginia United Coalition

This regional, community-based coalition proactively and collaboratively addresses problems facing youth in their communities.  The mission of the RVUC is to unify and strengthen communities in their efforts to prevent substance use, violence, child abuse, school failure, juvenile delinquency, premature sexual behavior, teen pregnancy, and suicide, and to promote positive youth development.  Since 2000 through grant funding, the RVUC has awarded multiple mini-grants to a wide range of community groups and organizations to implement prevention programming in their communities.  Please call our office for more information on the availability of this funding for your community.   The RVUC website is www.rvuc.com.

  • Ten Community-Based Prevention Alliances

These local prevention groups, comprised of members from multiple key sectors of the ten rural communities served by the Middle Peninsula Northern Neck Community Services Board, plan, implement, and evaluate outcome-based prevention programs in their respective communities.

  • Project Sticker Shock

One of the many community-based and statewide strategies being implemented throughout the state to reduce underage drinking, this program seeks to reach those persons 21 years of age and older who might purchase alcohol and provide it to minors.
